... but we have to start somewhere right?
I'll start by writing a little bit about myself.
My name is Shamika, I live in DFW, Texas, and I have a complete love/hate relationship with this state. I love fashion and music, and I aspire to be good at both. In fact, the reason I even started this blog was to create a running timeline of my personal growth. As I near the end of my teenage years (17!!!), I realize that I've changed a lot. Like a WHOLE LOT. And I'm definitely not done with the changing, so I think having a personal blog will be good for me, as an outlet for thoughts, ideas, and inspiration for my future self. Future me, if you are reading this, I hope you're in a good mood. Also I left $20 in the back pocket of those green pants from Target.
As far as fashion goes, I have a completely fluid style. There are days when I want to dress like its the 1960's, and days when I want to dress like it's the 3060's. To me, personal style is all about being creative and pushing one's boundaries a little bit more every day. High school fashion can either be a couture runway or an early 2000's music video disaster. I'd like to be the former. I often end up being the latter. Life goes on.
My music tastes have been ever evolving since I was little. I think I've settled well into the "indie" genre, though I hate saying that since:
1). The term "indie" is virtually meaning-less
2). It makes me sound super pretentious
That being said, independently produced music has always been appealing to me. I could make a long list of bands that I like, but let's be real. That list will constantly change, and technology exists, so just check out my last.fm page to get up to the minute updates on my ever changing musical palette.
Hopefully this won't be the last post of this blog ever! To everyone who reads this (which will probably be like 6 people), thank you for your time. See ya soon
<3,
Shamika
